Hello everyone,

I’m a huge privacy advocate. I love services such as ProtonMail, DuckDuckGo, and I’m also in love with crypto. This article will get regularly updated to provide the latest news on ProtonCoin’s development (updated as of May 2020).

First of all. Yes, ProtonCoin is real and is being built by no other but Proton Technologies AG (company behind the well-known ProtonMail).

ProtonCoin looks to fulfill several purposes. First of all, ProtonCoin is a way for the general public to participate in the growth and expansion of ProtonMail and the entire Proton ecosystem, centered around the ideas of security and privacy. Secondly, ProtonCoin is the building blocks for what may be the world’s first decentralized organization that distributes the participation rights of Proton widely so that no single entity can exert complete control over the ecosystem that we are developing. Finally, ProtonCoin and Proton by extension will become an organization of the future, which is governed and managed in a transparent fashion by leveraging the power of blockchain.

ProtonCoin started its development in 2018, during the crypto hype. As for the information I’ve been able to gather, ProtonCoin is no longer under development, since the company is busy improving ProtonMail & developing ProtonCalendar, ProtonDrive etc. As you might know, I’m a huge Internxt fan. If you’re looking for a privacy company deeply involved in blockchain & crypto, Internxt is the way to go. They have a live cryptocurrency, and, unlike Proton Technologies AG, a stable cloud storage service that respects your privacy, Internxt Drive. It’s free, take a look at it!
